I paid my dues to be recognized as an American and for equality. My scars and bruises are the receipts. Yet through it all....here I am. A Black man. Still standing."

A strong black man wearing the bruises and scars on his arms (shaped as a star and sripe from the American flag) that he obtained in the fight for equality in America. The bottom of the artwork depicts the slave ships that he arrived to the shores of America on.
It serves a tribute to the strength, fortitude and endurance of African American men and through its lens, you can see some of our story—the experience of African Americans in this great country of ours.
